The Old Court
Create. Innovate. Collaborate.
The Old Court, a landmark building in Kidderminster, required a brand that honoured its history while appealing to creative, digital, and tech businesses.
Connected by design
As part of a broader regeneration effort, The Old Court branding also needed to visually connect with two other local projects – The Weaving Sheds and The Piano Building – while working effectively across digital, print, and the built environment.
The brand identity is built around a bold, modern typeface that ensures standout across various applications, from signage and wayfinding to print and social media. A structured grid forms the core visual language, inspired by the building’s brick façade and the digital innovation it will house.
The grid represents both the architectural order of The Old Court and the creative, tech-focused businesses it’s designed to attract – balancing heritage with innovation, and structure with possibility.
Bold by nature
Wayfinding and signage play a significant role in the brand’s execution. A distinctive numbering style, derived from the logo, is used consistently throughout the building to aid navigation while reinforcing brand identity. This seamless integration of branding into the physical environment enhances both function and aesthetics, making The Old Court instantly recognisable and easy to navigate.
A striking shade of orange was chosen as a key colour, demanding attention and injecting energy and freshness into the space. More than just a design choice, this colour acts as a unifying element across The Old Court and its sister projects, creating a strong visual link between the three regeneration sites.
The result is a dynamic, cohesive brand that elevates The Old Court, making it an inspiring, attractive space for businesses while respecting its heritage. Through thoughtful design, the branding not only enhances the building’s identity but also contributes to the wider regeneration of Kidderminster.
