Extraordinary Isle
Extraordinary Isle was a destination branding project designed to fit under the Isle of Man’s existing tourism brand, Extraordinary Story.
The challenge was to create a Extraordinary Isle campaign identity, marketing plan, campaign advert mockup, and ideas for a coffee table book that would visually and thematically capture the island’s unique character.
The brand identity used a Gaelic/Celtic-inspired typeface to maintain the Manx connection while ensuring strong editorial presence. The typography was carefully chosen to balance tradition with modernity, making it effective across digital and print media. The colour palette was drawn from the island’s natural assets – sea, sky, and landscape – creating a cohesive visual system that felt both authentic and striking.
The sub-brands highlighted distinct aspects of Manx identity, allowing the campaign to focus on the island’s most extraordinary features while maintaining a unified design language. This approach ensured versatility across different media, from advertising to editorial content.
A key part of the pitch was the coffee table book mockup, designed to showcase how the brand could be extended into premium printed formats. The book’s layout used the brand’s typography creatively, bringing character to the pages while allowing imagery to shine.
While we didn’t win the tender, the project demonstrated a clear vision for how the Extraordinary Isle branding could complement existing work while introducing fresh, compelling design elements to elevate the Isle of Man’s tourism marketing.
