KCB Craft Ales

It’s a serious matter of taste

Kings Cliffe Brewery (KCB) needed a distinctive brand identity to appeal to local beer drinkers seeking quality over novelty. The clean, contemporary design delivers strong shelf presence while uniting the range under one cohesive look.

Design on tap

Kings Cliffe Brewery launched with the goal of creating a premium local beer brand that offered an alternative to the mainstream. The design brief called for a full branding package – from individual product designs and packaging to marketing materials – that could grow with the range over time. The identity needed to appeal to discerning drinkers seeking quality over novelty, while maintaining flexibility for future seasonal additions.

We set out to achieve visual impact at the pumps and on the shelves, delivering clarity and consistency across all touchpoints. The design had to avoid the predictable humour and clutter often seen in craft beer branding, instead reflecting the brewery’s professionalism, quality and confidence.

Brewed for distinction

Our process explored how the brand would live across bottles, pump clips, clothing, vehicles and digital channels. The final identity is clean and contemporary, bringing the individual beer names to the fore while uniting them within a cohesive system. The signature brand ‘wave’ reflects the colour and style of each brew, reinforced by clear typography and straightforward descriptors.

The result is a distinctive, adaptable identity that positions KCB as a trusted, high-quality brewery. Today, KCB beers are recognised across the region – winning awards and earning a place among respected local producers – proof that thoughtful design can help a young brewery make a lasting mark.
