Our Dark Secret was a destination marketing campaign for the Isle of Man designed to attract tourists during the shoulder season and winter.

Designed for wonder

Our focus was on creating a visually compelling campaign that celebrated the Isle of Man’s unique character while maintaining design consistency across all media. The concept centred on the island’s 26 Dark Sky sites – a remarkable natural asset that provided both a powerful visual theme and a sense of awe.

The design approach positioned these locations as must-visit destinations, using immersive imagery, rich colours and refined typography to capture the magic of the night skies. Inspired by deep blues, purples and silvers, the palette mirrored the celestial hues above, while clean, modern type lent the campaign a timeless, aspirational feel.

Built around beauty

Working with Manx photographer and videographer Brook Wassall, we integrated time-lapse photography, video and stills that became the centrepiece of the campaign. The minimalist design layout allowed his visuals to shine, using careful framing and typography that guided the viewer without distraction.

Messaging was crafted for different audiences – from young families to seasoned travellers – with a clear hierarchy that complemented the visuals and encouraged exploration. The result was a cohesive, multi-platform campaign that elevated the Isle of Man’s tourism brand, reinforcing its identity as a distinctive, awe-inspiring destination that truly shines after dark.
