The Piano Building

The Piano Building, named for its grand piano-shaped footprint, is a key part of Kidderminster’s regeneration.

The Piano Building brand needed to convey modernity, accessibility, and a warm welcome while establishing a visual connection with The Weaving Sheds and The Old Court. The challenge was to create a unique, inspiring identity that appealed to a diverse audience, reflected the building’s history, and remained relevant for years to come.

The final design embraces the building’s distinctive shape, incorporating it into the logo for an immediate and meaningful connection. A minimalist aesthetic ensures the brand feels contemporary and sophisticated, resonating with a younger, style-conscious demographic.

The primary colour palette of black and white directly references piano keys, reinforcing the building’s identity, while a bold secondary shade of orange creates a visual link to The Weaving Sheds and The Old Court, unifying the three regeneration projects.

Careful consideration was given to ensuring the branding remained versatile and inclusive. By avoiding direct associations with specific industries – such as food and beverage, retail, or commercial – the identity maintains flexibility, making it equally relevant to a wide range of tenants and visitors. The clean, understated typography enhances this adaptability, allowing the brand to feel at home across different applications, from signage and digital platforms to printed materials.

The result is a striking yet timeless brand that positions The Piano Building as a welcoming and contemporary space. It successfully balances heritage with modernity, creating an identity that will appeal to a broad audience while ensuring the building’s role within Kidderminster’s regeneration is clear and compelling.
