Think you know Rutland?
A destination lead campaign
A Rutland printing company used a locally focused, print-led campaign to raise awareness, re-engage customers and attract new business.
Finding the right creative hook
An established Rutland-based printing company had an excellent reputation, but low awareness beyond its existing customer base. Despite operating locally for years, many people simply didn’t know they were there. As a digital printer, they needed a campaign that would both showcase print quality and promote short-run services such as invitations and cards, while also driving new B2C sales from the local community.
Working alongside Forgaard Agency, our challenge was to create a direct mail campaign that demonstrated the breadth and quality of what the business could produce, while making a strong emotional connection with a local audience.
A campaign built around print
Rutland’s strong sense of identity and regional pride became central to the creative direction. The campaign, titled Think You Know Rutland?, played on local curiosity – the idea that even those who know the county well could still discover something new.
We designed a series of postcards, each featuring an obscure fact about Rutland posed as a question. Recipients were encouraged to visit an online quiz to answer all ten questions and compare their score with others across the county. Delivered primarily through print door drops and media inserts, the campaign was supported by digital and email activity, collecting data and enabling follow-up communications, prizes and giveaways.
The result was a highly engaging, print-led campaign that generated new business, reactivated lapsed customers – and proved so effective that the local tourist board requested to reuse the concept.
