Visit Severn Valley
Designing the Visit Severn Valley brand to unite heritage, nature and adventure across local, national and international visitor audiences.
Visit Severn Valley (VSV) was developed as a destination brand for Wyre Forest District Council, with the aim of promoting the Severn Valley as a vibrant visitor destination. The brief centred around creating a bold yet flexible brand identity and a compelling website that could promote top attractions while celebrating the natural landscape and historic character of the area.
At the heart of the project was a design challenge: how to create a brand that would unify a wide range of stakeholders – including the National Trust, Natural England, and a safari park – while still appealing to tourists from around the UK and beyond.
We developed a brand identity that subtly referenced the geography of the valley itself. The stylised “VSV” mark features flowing lines and arch forms that nod to the River Severn and the many bridges that cross it. The identity is both symbolic and practical – strong enough to sit alongside national brands, but flexible enough to be embraced locally.
Colour was used to segment key themes – nature, history and family attractions – making navigation and storytelling intuitive across the website and future campaigns.
The website was designed with simplicity, accessibility and emotional appeal in mind. Rich video, atmospheric photography and clean UI combined to create a user experience that makes exploring the Severn Valley as inviting online as it is in person.
The result was a cohesive brand that partners felt proud to align with – and a digital home for the Severn Valley that does justice to its diverse, layered identity.
