PVS

Providers of home automation and audio visual (AV) solutions, PVS were looking for a branding agency to help take their business to the next level.

PVS commissioned our branding agency to help develop a new brand for the business that was to reflect their use of high-end equipment, as well as the quality of their installations. Plus, they wanted to introduce a number of sub-brands that sat under the ‘PVS’ global brand.

We presented four different approaches (A) looking at not only the logo design but also how the brand might be applied to stationery or marketing materials. In our experience, it’s important to look at the bigger picture, even at this stage. You rarely see a company logo in isolation so it’s important to design one in context, plus it certainly helps our clients see the potential in an idea.

Two of the four ideas were chosen for further development. The first, was inspired by the end of a fibre optic cable. Our initial research into AV equipment taught us that fibre was the only cable type that would apply to all of the services PVS provided (home, networks, audio, etc). The client asked that we explore the idea further (B), along with their second choice which used the ‘AV’ to represent a wave (C) of data/information.

Sometimes, you need to take a design too far, to appreciate the original simplicity. This was certainly the case here. The client agreed that a more refined approach was required and therefore the fibre optic design was refined and developed into the brand you see here.
